Jeffrey Hoover

Information technology analyst

Jeffrey Hoover

Senior IT training and support analyst with a practical infrastructure mindset.

Professionally, I handle desktop and helpdesk support, user training, deployments, and troubleshooting across multiple locations. Outside work, I run a Linux homelab and VPS where I build, secure, monitor, and repair the services I use.

Core capabilities

Support, training, and systems work.

My work combines patient user support with structured technical troubleshooting. I am comfortable moving between a training conversation, an endpoint issue, a network path, and the service or policy behind it.

Professional experience

More than a decade in IT support.

More than a decade supporting users and technology in legal and industrial environments, with responsibility for day-to-day operations, deployments, training, and technical projects.

Hands-on infrastructure

Homelab and VPS operations.

My homelab and VPS are working environments, not demo screenshots. They give me room to test changes, investigate failures, and understand the full path from DNS and access policy to the application and its data.

Self-hosted services with real operational constraints

I operate services across a CachyOS workstation, a Linux homelab, and an Ubuntu VPS. The environment combines containers, private networking, reverse proxies, public edge services, media automation, remote access, and backups.

Network
UniFi-routed networks, AdGuard Home split DNS, Tailscale device tags and grants, and narrowly scoped access between systems.
Edge
Nginx Proxy Manager, HTTPS certificates, Cloudflare DNS, Pages, Tunnel, and authenticated browser access for selected services.
Workloads
Docker-based applications, media services, download automation, monitoring dashboards, remote administration, and game streaming.
Operations
Log and API-driven troubleshooting, systemd services, firewall and route checks, configuration backups, manifests, and restore-minded validation.
